UTS Adds IFC (International Firestop Council) Certified Inspection Capabilities
UTS of Massachusetts has long been a respected provider for fire-retardent and fireproof materials and practices. We are proud to have two IFC-certified inspectors in our employ to serve the firestop inspection needs of our customers. IFC-certified inspectors must satisfactorily complete a rigorous 40-to-60-hour study and recommended-reading program, then proceed with an online examination which is proctored (overseen by an instructor). Certification is a formidable challenge, and an excellent testimony to our dedicated fire safety experts.
Firestop inspection is a significant responsibility and a vital component of comprehensive building and construction project testing. The 2012 International Building Code requires special inspection of firestopping for buildings over 75 feet in height, plus category III and IV buildings (IBC article 1705.16).
